The 2002 Farm Bill: U.S. Producer Preferences
for Agricultural, Food and Public Policy in PDF format
(986 kb)
The results of the 2002 Farm Bill Survey have been widely disseminated and used throughout the country. Reports were distributed to policymakers in Congress. Reference to the producer preferences in the report has appeared in the Congressional Record from debate on the floor of the Senate. The results of the survey were also distributed to policymakers in the participating states and through the media across the country. Articles quoting survey data and findings have appeared in several major newspapers, agricultural weeklies, and numerous policy newsletters. The survey project has also led to numerous extension meetings and publications at the state and regional level. Participating states have used the survey results as a basis for Farm Bill educational meetings and material, reaching thousands of producers. In addition, the survey results and producer preference database are providing the foundation for further research, including submissions being developed for Choices and several agricultural economics journals. Graduate students in many of the participating states are beginning to work with the data as well, providing an opportunity for further research and written output. Several publications have been developed with these results to focus on individual states or regions.
