Larna Schnitker

Larna Schnitker is a fourth-generation farmer from Middletown, Missouri. She and her family raise corn, soybeans, wheat and cattle. Larna’s main role is managing the cow/calf operation, but also plays a major role in the day to day operations. Her responsibilities include picking out genetics for the cattle herd, managing records and striving to improve the cattle working facility that she designed.

In the future, Larna plans to digitize cattle records by utilizing standardized data. She wants to promote the regenerative benefits of raising beef cattle, by incorporating cover crops and practicing intense pasture management.

Larna is a junior at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. She is studying Agribusiness Management and is the president of the Mizzou Collegiate Cattlewomen. She also is a teacher’s assistant for Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Excel, New Products Marketing and Ag Marketing classes.

Each weekend during the semester, Miss. Schnitker returns home to help on the farm and spend time with her grandparents. While on the farm, Larna enjoys hauling grain with her favorite semi, working ground, maintaining equipment, building new things, and assisting with calving season.

Larna also enjoys gardening, canning, sewing, baking pies and spending time with her family. She is very involved in her church and loves to visit the elderly in her community. After graduation, Larna hopes to return full time to the family farm.
