Gustavo Castro García

Gustavo is a Ph.D. student of biological systems engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has over eight years of teaching experience in rural areas in Latin America. Gustavo is motivated to create opportunities for engaging domestic and international students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in research, outreach, and service that prepare them to solve critical agricultural and societal challenges from a systems perspective through community-based engagement. In his own academic career, he has applied engineering and environmental sustainability principles to co-create solutions that improved economic, environmental, and societal resilience. He has participated in projects of sustainable agriculture, water management, and waste management. He has an interest in applying principles of a circular economy to foster improvements in agricultural sustainability through his genuine passion for helping others achieve success.
