Tristan Hudak

Tristan Hudak started in agribusiness in Upstate New York in his hometown of Rochester with his family business, Ag BioTech, inc. Over the past five years he has led the development of two cutting-edge agricultural products, both designed to overcome some of the challenges of conventional agricultural production. These products focus on the sustainable intensification of organic and conventional crop production. He has also worked to increase the domestic footprint of Ag BioTech, expanding their product line to the Midwest and Western states.

Recently, Tristan helped co-found a Ugandan-based agricultural input company called Ag-Ploutos Co. Ltd., which takes a multi-sectoral approach to facilitate market linkages for smallholder farmers and processors of high-value crops. Ag-Ploutos is designed to coordinate
between the public and private sector, linking regional capacity-building programs and private companies to make services available for smallholders that would otherwise be inaccessible, generating much higher revenues for family farming households throughout the country.

He is currently pursuing his M.S. in International Agricultural Development at UC Davis, with a concentration in rural agribusiness development, while living in sunny Sacramento, California. When he’s not working or in class, he enjoys coaching youth lacrosse and camping around Lake Tahoe with his girlfriend and their dog, Archer.
