Michael Hill

Michael Hill is a fourth generation grower from Apopka, Florida. I graduated from Auburn University with a major in Ag business and economics and a minor in Spanish. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Brooke. We have 2 children, Trace (8) and Claire Marie (6). After college, I started working with my father on our family farm (Southern Hill Farms) where we ventured into a new crop, blueberries. It was only 10 acres at the time and that was 10 years ago. Since then we have entered into a partnership with another local grower and my role now is CEO of our operation (H&A Farms) which includes our own land that we farm on, we also have a farm management company where we oversee assets for multiple different groups. We pack and sell fruit off of our own farms as well as outside growers. 40% of the states production comes through our facility and about 15% of Georgia’s production does as well. We have our own logistics company where we haul and distribute the fruit. We now oversee roughly 500 acres of blueberries and have around 100 full time employees. 3 years ago, we started bringing in imported fruit to maximize our asset of our packing facility. We now currently pack around 20 million pounds annually. My passion is agriculture, at a young age my parents tried to talk me out of this industry, knowing the stresses that comes along with it. Apparently, it is just in my blood and I would not have it any other way. It is a true pleasure being able to work alongside my wife and my family and I can only hope that my children will feel the same way.
