Agricultural Competitiveness and World Trade Liberalization: Implications of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA)

This conference, which was May 29 and 30, 2003 in Fargo, N.D., explored key issues and progress of the FTAA and WTO negotiations, as well as potential impacts on U.S. agricultural exports. Other topics included country perspectives on trade liberalization and agricultural policy, alternative means to enhance agricultural exports, and issues related to exchange rates, subsidies and state trading enterprises. The conference sponsors were the Center for Agricultural Policy and Trade Studies at North Dakota State University and Farm Foundation. Here is a copy of the  executive summary.
