International Agricultural Productivity Growth Workshop

Trends in policy reforms to enhance public and private agricultural research and innovation to improve productivity will be discussed at a March 15, 2007, workshop organized by Farm Foundation and the USDA Economic Research Service. The event will be at ERS's Waugh Audtiorium, Washington DC.

Program and registration information is available. The program will examine refinements in productivity measurement and institutional factors that have influenced productivity in the United States, Canada, Holland, the United Kingdom and some developing countries. Issues to be addressed include: optimal methods for funding public agricultural research; whether productivity increases as a result of research privatization, trade liberalization or globalization; and factors that increase productivity in developing countries.
