National Food & Agribusiness Management Education Commission

National Food and Agribusiness Management

 Education Commission

Purdue University and Kansas State University were charged by USDA to create a national food and agribusiness management education commission to do a comprehensive study of current education programs and the needs of the dynamic food and agribusiness system.

Led by an industry steering committee, the National Food and Agribusiness Management Education Commission:

  • Described the current state of food and agribusiness management education at colleges and universities in the U.S.;
  • Worked with industry and academic professionals to determine how food and agribusiness management curricula could be revised/enhanced to meet the expectations of industry;
  • Conducted a  national workshop for academic and industry participants to summarize findings and recommendations of the Commission; and
  • Prepared a  summary publication to highlight findings and recommendations of the Commission.

A Web page has been established for the project. This project was to update understanding since the 1989 National Agribusiness Education Commission issued recommendations for agribusiness education in the report, “Agribusiness Education in Transition: Strategies for Change.”
