What the Public Values About Farmland

was the focus of a workshop Nov. 13-14, 2003, in Baltimore, Md. Local policy makers responsible for farmland preservation programs, and economists who have studied the public's preferences for preserving farmland examined ways to improve public decisions about farm and ranch land preservation. Farm Foundation sponsored the workshop in collaboration with USDA's Economic Research Service (ERS), Natural Resource Conservation Service, and Cooperative State Research, Extension and Education Service (CSREES) . An executive summary is posted  here. The workshop was also the resource for a Farm Foundation  Issue Report on farmland preservation. Educational resource materials are also available. Conference proceedingsare available for review.
