Katherine Westerman

Katherine Westerman is a second year M.S. student at the University of Rhode Island, majoring in environmental and natural resource economics with her sights on entering a related Ph.D. program in fall 2024. She has an M.S. in Integrated Agricultural Sciences and a B.S. in Agribusiness Management from Texas State University. Her current research interests include regenerative agriculture and sustainable farm management to aid the diversification of farm products and the use of machine learning as a tool to assess agricultural policy effectiveness.

Katherine has presented research on farmers’ perceptions and attitudes towards cover cropping at the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association, the American Society of Horticultural Science, the Small Producers’ Initiative, and the San Antonio Botanical Gardens.
