Alison Grantham

Alison Grantham, PhD, is a scientist and business executive who founded and runs Grow Well. She brings a rigorous yet practical approach to her work with businesses, industry associations, foundations, and nonprofits to build a more just, regenerative, and resilient food future.
Prior to launching Grow Well, she directed Food Systems R&D and then Food Procurement at Blue Apron. She also led Penn State Extension’s beginning farmer training program, and directed research at the Rodale Institute. Alison currently serves on the board of directors of 2 nonprofits, the Rodale Institute and the Clinton Township Organic Community Garden.
She also served two terms on the National Academy of Sciences’ Committee to advise the US Global Change Research Program, the body that oversees climate and other global change research across the 14 federal agencies, until its dissolution in 2025. Alison holds a dual-title PhD in ecology and biogeochemistry from Penn State, and a BA summa cum laude in biological sciences and environmental studies from Mt. Holyoke College. Alison lives in New Jersey where she and her husband juggle 2 kids, 2 dogs, and an ever-expanding garden.
