Sustainable Agricultural Systems in the 21st Century
Recommendations included in a recently-released study on sustainable agricultural systems were the focus of a Sept. 16, 2010, workshop at the National Press Club.
The workshop examined recommendations included in the June 2010 report, Toward Sustainable Agricultural Systems in the 21st Century, released by the National Research Council of the National Academies. The report was sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
The Sept. 16 workshop was designed to encourage interaction among stakeholders and identify future actions. Presentations from the symposium, as well as audio, is available on the Web site of Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE).
The workshop was a collaboration of the National Institute for Food and Agriculture and SARE, which develops and disseminates information about sustainable agriculture. Other project partners were Farm Foundation, the National Research Council of the National Academies, the National Sustainable Agricultural Coalition, the Organic Farming Research Foundation, and USDA's Agricultural Research Service, Economic Research Service and National Agricultural Statistics Service.
