Farm Savings Accounts and the Farm Safety Net

Farm savings accounts and the farm safety net was the topic of a 2003 workshop Farm Foundation presented with USDA’s Economic Research Service and USDA’s Risk Management Agency. Farm savings accounts were one of the policy options discussed during debate of the 2002 farm bill. Participants in this workshop looked at the impacts the accounts might have in the U.S., drawing in part on the experiences Canada and Australia had had with similar programs.
