Andrew Uden

Andrew Uden grew up in central Nebraska working on Darr Feedlot, which is co-owned by his family and operates near Lexington, Nebraska. Andrew’s family also owns a 1500 head commercial cattle operation that Andrew was actively involved in building to its current capacity. Andrew received his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he was able to take a year of traveling the world during the course of his study. During this time abroad, he studied developmental economics at the University of Aberdeen in Aberdeen, Scotland. Andrew was also able to intern at Te Mania Angus in Victoria, and at the Australian Agricultural Company in Queensland, Australia. Andrew spent 7 months learning new segments of the beef industry and different perspectives from talented
industry leaders.

After graduation, Andrew spent a summer helping Russian Angus Genetics breed newly imported cattle prior to accepting an internship with the International Foundation in Washington D.C. This internship was a discipleship based mentoring program to teach servant leadership and the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. While there Andrew learned from globally connected leaders working to improve the world through relationships. After the International Foundation internship Andrew was accepted into an Applied Science Masters program at the University of Nebraska. This master degree was focused on the development of livestock production systems in sub-Saharan Africa.

Following the completion of his Master’s, Andrew returned home to Lexington, Nebraska to help expand his family’s cattle operation. At the same time he co-founded an ag-tech startup, Quantified Ag. Quantified Ag, a biometric and data analytics company, develops IOT enabled devices to find sick cattle earlier and more reliably. Andrew left the family cattle business to focus on building Quantified Ag and remained there for 3 years. In 2018 new agricultural opportunities in Africa opened up and Andrew co-founded AgVision International with partners from abroad. AgVision International is a turnkey agricultural consulting, development and management company for customers seeking to develop field crop, livestock & horticulture projects, value chains, or new food products in developing markets.

Currently, Andrew is the President of AgVision International and works with his team on projects in Uganda, Tanzania, and China. Andrew and his wife Nicolette have been married for 7 years and have three children together: Asher (5), Roselyn (3), and Oliver (1). Andrew and his family were living in Kampala, Uganda, until recently moving back to Nebraska to be closer to family.
