Consequences of the 21st Century Food System
Sept. 17-20, 2006 

Public policy issues related to the 21st Century Food System were the focus of Farm Foundation’s National Public Policy Education Conference, Sept. 17-20, 2006, in Fayetteville, Ark.  This conference, Consequences of the 21st Century Food System, included sessions on ethics, economic development, community impacts, immigration and labor, food safety, nutrition issues and federal agricultural policies.

The fourth R.J. Hildreth Lecture was given by Lynn Harvey of Michigan State University.

The 2006 R.J. Hildreth Award for Distinguished Career Achievement in Public Policy Education was presented to Dr. Keith Collins, Chief Economist, USDA, and Dr. James Christenson, Director of Cooperative Extension at the University of Arizona.

National Public Policy Education Conference, organized by Farm Foundation for more than 50 years, provides Extension professionals with information on diverse public policy issues related to agriculture and the food system.
