July 8, 2002 (Chicago) Farm Foundation is supporting a training workshop to take place in conjunction with the Federation of Southern Cooperatives annual meeting and 35th anniversary celebration, Aug. 17, 2002, in Birmingham, Ala. The training workshop will cover topics such as sustainable agriculture, land retention, and a review of the farm bill outcomes and its economic impact on small and limited resource farmers.

The Federation of Southern Cooperatives works with small and limited resource farmers throughout the southeastern region. It has a mission to develop self-supporting communities with programs that increase income and enhance other opportunities, to assist in land retention and development, to strive to protect the family farmer and to ensure that the African-American farmer remains an integral part of America's agriculture system. The Federation provides services, resources, technical assistance and advocacy to its membership of cooperatives and credit unions and their individual member families.
