The Role of GMOs in Trade Disputes

A major barrier to trade for the Unites States is the reluctance of trading blocks to import products containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The Role of GMOs in Trade Disputes was a conference Oct. 30-31, 2003, at the Menger Hotel, San Antonio, Texas.

How the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the European Union, Japan and less-developed countries address the issue of GMOs and trade was discussed by speakers from industry and academia.

Farm Foundation sponsored this conference in collaboration with the Center for Agricultural and Trade Studies at North Dakota State University; Ben Hill Griffin Chair, University of Florida; and the Center for North American Studies at Texas A&M University.
